The musical influences of the sisters (Laura and Lydia Rogers) aren’t hard to pin down. The pair attributes the development of their distinct vocal style to singing at family picnics, church functions, and to growing up with “a love of music from all sides’” of the family in Mussel Shoals, Alabama. The intimacy between the sisters translates beautifully onto their new record: the B-side boasts harmonies straight out of the 1930s, and the A-side, though decidedly heavier on the guitar, still highlights the pure, clear vocals that are sure to become the trademark of the Secret Sisters.
